The Death Horse

The Death Horse

The black horse made of shadow Rode past my window I ran outside to see For I knew she was looking for me Her face was full of strength While her body was frail I shivered as my face became pale I realized she was death Was she here to take me home? Would she steal my last breath? I closed my eyes, made peace and walked forward How strange death feels It’s the middle of summer and I feel chills The Death horse met me half way She leaned forward just to say “Even though you are broken on this earth It is here you my stay. Oh yes I will come for you someday But that day is not today” She turned and walked away Left me wondering in dismay I had made my peace I was ready to go Where that leaves me I do not know
